The Maldives is 26 atolls. Most Indian trips land in the central chain — Malé, Baa, Ari, Lhaviyani and Laamu — because that's where the resorts and dive sites are.
- North & South Malé: closest to the airport, speedboat transfers

North & South Malé
The practical choice. Speedboat transfers keep costs and first-day stress low, and you're close to Male for a city walk or a local-island day trip. Ideal for short 3–4 night trips and families who want to spend time in the water, not in transit.
Baa Atoll & Hanifaru Bay
A UNESCO biosphere and the Maldives' most famous manta site. Between June and November, mantas gather in Hanifaru Bay to feed. Resorts here are pricier and reached by seaplane — worth it for divers and wildlife lovers.
Ari Atoll
Big fish country — whale sharks, mantas and dramatic walls. Some of the best diving in the Maldives, with resorts that range from mid-range to ultra-luxury. Snorkellers can still see plenty from house reefs and boat trips.
