Best time to visit Maldives from India
Two seasons, but the right month for you depends on your budget, your holiday calendar and whether you want manta rays or mirror-calm water.
Updated September 2026
Dry season: November – April
The northeast monsoon brings sunny days, calm water and the best visibility. This is peak season — expect premium prices, especially from mid-December to early January and during school breaks.
- Best for first-timers, honeymoons, families
- Calm lagoons, great snorkelling conditions
- Highest room rates and full resorts
Wet season: May – October
The southwest monsoon brings short tropical showers — usually bursts, not all-day rain. Rates drop, resorts are quieter, and this is the window for manta rays and whale sharks around Baa Atoll and Hanifaru Bay.
- Best value for budget travellers
- Prime manta / whale-shark season
- Showers pass quickly; water stays warm
